Imagined as the IMDB of the music industry, Lyric Geek houses a 150,000+ collection of song lyrics and band biographies for popular music ranging from the 1960s to the present day. Designed from scratch to be both simple and scalable, it features a dynamic site structure that allows for changing thousands of pages without any downtime.
Built using MySQL and PHP on top of a LAMP configuration, the site is fast, intuitive and simple. The layout was designed in Adobe Fireworks to be easy on the eye, stylish yet deceptively simple. The site is also highly optimised for on page SEO factors, such as meta-tags, XML sitemaps and loading speed. It also uses AJAX techniques as a tool for SEO and loading speed optimisation.
