Bovada is a leading online casino, poker, sports and horse betting portal for the North American market. The website combines four gambling channels into one and handles thousands of visitors and transactions a day.
Built on top of a heavily modified drupal core, Bovada was built from the ground to become the high traffic site it is today. I participated in a wide range of activities, including backend development, frontend development, AJAX development, integrating with a web service layer, sprint planning, quality assurance and server administration.
Bovada employs a complex web service orientated architecture to handle data and processes across a number of layers, and combines a broad spectrum of technologies (including PHP, Java and Javascript) to deliver this experience to the end user optimally. It uses the Common Web Framework product developed at Riplife Gaming Technologies (which I also co-developed), and was built with the co-operation and co-ordination of several small international teams.
